Strike notice in Swedish ports
Published 2023-07-03During last week, we received information that the Swedish Dockworkers’ Union has issued a strike notice that concerns the Ro-Ro Terminal in Gothenburg and the port of Helsingborg.
According to the information we have received the primary demand from the union is to establish a joint social fund, due to the insecure form of employment that many dock workers have. In addition, the port of Helsingborg also announces for an overtime and new hiring blockade.
The negotiations between the various parties are currently ongoing. If they do not reach an agreement in the next couple of days the strike is planned to take place from the 6th of July until the 11th of July, which in that case could have a negative impact on both import/export shipments and the affected ports.
